Love Train charity walkers name their top music tracks

Walkers for charity Nigel Lewis-Baker, Charlotte Carr and Alan Carr MBE (pictured, left to right) are participating in the Prostate Project Love Train Walk from John O'Groats to Land's End and reveal the favourite music tracks that will keep them motivated.

The Love Train Walk will see participants walk 1,000 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End. Starting on 21 March, the route will pass through Inverness, Edinburgh, Corbidge, Bradford, Kidderminster and Bath, with the aim to complete 20 miles each day.

Nigel, Charlotte and Alan have revealed what their top recorded music tracks are to keep them motivated on their journey, and why they're important to them:

Mariah Carey - Hero. This was a hit at the time of my diagnosis and I played it over and over, especially in the car on my way to/from work at Heathrow. It really did give me the strength and courage to accept my situation and made me determined to make us of my time and condition.

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now. This is almost an anthem with many cancer patients and expresses my thoughts about the future. I describe myself as having a new career rather than an illness am generally having a ball meeting people and going to places I would never have had the chance to do before. Working with a number of charities giving talks and interviews, campaigning and lobbying Parliament I find that there is so much to do and we cannot stop now.

Band of the Life Guards - Abide With Me/Last Post also sometimes known as Eventide. Reminder of my military past but a truly emotional piece of music that allows me to reflect on my illness at quiet times and inspires me to keep going. This WILL be the last piece at my funeral.

Dickie Valentine - Funny Valentine. My wife tells me it was her favourite when we got engaged after only knowing each other for 3 weeks. We have now been married for 42 years.

Will Young - Anything Is Possible. A tribute to my wife, Janet, without whose love and support I would not be able to do what I do and may not have been here to do it at all. Always give a thought for the spouses and carers who go through emotional pain and feelings of helplessness and fear without all the help that we get as patients.

Acker Bilk - Stranger On The Shore. A beautiful piece that helped me to keep calm and reflective along the journey through treatments and side-effects.

Il Volo - Un Amore Cosi' Grande. Three young lads with amazingingly mature voices and a joy to listen to.

The O'Jays - Love Train. Our anthem for this epic 1,000 mile walk to help save 10,200 men that die every year from prostate cancer. So we invite everybody to come on board and join us in whatever way they can.

Chicago - If You Leave Me Now. Three days after our wedding (36 years ago) my wife Margaret underwent surgery for cancer. She is fine now and can tell you my eldest daughter Michelle trained in the same hospital my wife was cured in.

John Lennon - Imagine. This expresses a utopian dream.

The Prostate Project is a rapidly growing, patient led, prostate cancer charity that has raised nearly £6 million in the last 13 years.
