PPL reveals the most played songs by the Rolling Stones

As one of the biggest bands in the world celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first gig, played at The Marquee Club in London, PPL reveals which of The Rolling Stones songs are the UK’s most loved to this day.

Having a discography including 29 studio albums and 12 live albums, The Stones have a back catalogue that is equalled by no one. From Keith Richards and Mick Jagger's early friendship from Dartford in Kent, to the most recent line up of Richards, Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, they are one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands of all time.

The band's number one most played song is (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Released in 1965 the song regularly features in 'best of polls' and reached number one in both the UK and the US. As with many of The Stones songs, the lyrical content caused some controversy upon release. It polled as one of the top 100 records that 'shook the world' and is still to this day widely thought of as one of the finest rock songs of all time.

Seven of the songs in the top ten reached number one in the UK upon release and all ten within the top three, making this one of the most commercially successful PPL charts.

The top ten most played Rolling Stones in the UK are:

1) (I Cant Get No) Satisfaction
2) Brown Sugar
3) Jumpin' Jack Flash
4) Paint It Black
5) Get Off Of My Cloud
6) Honky Tonk Women
7) The Last Time
8) It's All Over Now
9) Ruby Tuesday
10) Let's Spend The Night Together

"It's rare to find a top ten in which every song holds some significant cultural impact but that is what we have here," said Jonathan Morrish, Director of PR and Corporate Communications. "Each of these songs is era defining and resonates with music lovers of all ages. This is the top ten of top tens"

The list is compiled from PPL's exclusive data which includes TV, radio and online usage as well as songs played in bars, shops, restaurants, gyms and other public places that use music.
